Job summary

Hitachi Rail USA, Inc. seeks a Senior System Engineer (HVAC) based in Hagerstown, Maryland. You will lead system engineering tasks for onboard HVAC systems within our Rolling Stock Engineering Department, coordinating with internal teams and external suppliers.

The role requires strong RAMS and requirements management skills, plus experience with DOORS and CAD tools, and occasional national/international travel.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Engineering required.
• 5+ years in railway or complex industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of railway regulations and RAMS.
• Proficient in DOORS requirements management.
• Experience with design verification and validation.
• Ability to liaise with suppliers and customers across borders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare System Requirements Specifications (SyRS).
• Define and manage system interfaces throughout the project lifecycle.
• Analyze and assess technical documentation from suppliers.
• Prepare and verify installation/integration drawings and specs.
• Conduct design reviews with internal teams and suppliers.
• Prepare Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) and tests.
• Attend system stand-alone tests and review test reports.
• Support onboard integration, performance testing, and validation.
• Review design docs with customers and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with international regulations and project constraints.
• Prepare vehicle approval documentation and support homologation.
