Job summary

STV is seeking a Senior Civil Rail Engineer in Los Angeles to design civil and track elements for rail and transit projects. You will collaborate with project managers, agencies, and contractors across planning, design, and construction phases, delivering safe, reliable and cost-efficient solutions.

The role requires a PE license, 13+ years of rail experience, and proficiency in MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRail, AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• PE License required.
• Minimum of 13 years of civil engineering experience in rail and transit projects.
• Experience supporting design and construction-phase services, coordinating with contractors, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency with Civil/Track design software including MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRail, AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Design and advance civil and track elements for rail and transit infrastructure projects, including track alignments, stations, bridges, tunnels, and related facilities.
• Support projects from design through construction by responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, and helping resolve field-related design questions.
• Contribute to quality reviews and QA/QC processes to ensure design documents are accurate and aligned with project goals.
• Prepare engineering reports, drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Work closely with project managers, discipline leads, clients, agencies, and construction partners to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective rail solutions.
