Job summary

STV, Inc. is seeking a Senior Civil Rail Engineer to join our Transportation team in Los Angeles. You will lead design for rail and transit infrastructure, collaborating with project managers, agencies, and contractors to deliver safe, reliable solutions.

You will mentor junior staff, work across planning, design, and construction support, and ensure quality through QA/QC processes while advancing your leadership and project delivery skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; PE Registration.
  • Minimum 13 years of civil engineering experience in rail and transit infrastructure.
  • Professional Engineer license required.
  • Experience coordinating with contractors, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRail, AutoCAD, Civil 3D.
  • Familiarity with AREMA, CPUC, AAR, FRA, Metrolink, LA Metro, UPRR, BNSF or similar standards.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven project environment.

Job description

STV is looking for a Senior Civil Rail Engineer to join our Transportation team and help deliver the next generation of rail and transit infrastructure. This role is ideal for a civil engineering professional who is ready to take on meaningful design work, collaborate with experienced technical leaders, and contribute to projects that improve mobility and connect communities. You'll have the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle-from planning and design through construction support-while continuing to grow your technical expertise and project delivery skills.

What You'll Do:

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. PE Registration
  • Minimum of 13 years of civil engineering experience, supporting rail, and transit infrastructure projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Experience supporting design and construction-phase services, including coordination with contractors, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • High Proficiency with engineering and design software :MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRail, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.
  • Working knowledge of rail and transportation standards and requirements, such as AREMA, CPUC, AAR, FRA, Metrolink, LA Metro, UPRR, BNSF, or similar agency standards.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, clients, agencies, and construction partners.
  • A collaborative mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven project environment.

Compensation Range:

$160,647.46 - $183,597.09
