Job summary

CHAOS Inc. in Hawthorne, CA, seeks a Principal Systems Engineer to lead radar algorithm development. You will design and optimize signal processing algorithms for target detection, tracking, and classification, and implement them in software and hardware, including FPGAs and DSPs.

You will work onsite with a multidisciplinary team on cutting-edge radar technology. The role requires a strong background in radar systems, RF engineering, and hands-on programming in Python, MATLAB, and C++.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in STEM or equivalent experience
• 5-10 years radar systems development experience
• Understanding of radar systems and modes
• Experience with Python or MATLAB
• RF systems experience
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced radar signal processing algorithms for target detection, tracking, and classification
• Optimize algorithms for real-time performance and resource constraints
• Implement algorithms in software (C++, Python, MATLAB) and/or hardware (FPGAs, DSPs)
• Analyze radar data to evaluate system performance and identify areas for improvement
• Develop and maintain system simulations and models to support algorithm development and performance evaluation
• Design and develop radar modes
• Contribute to the development of system requirements and specifications
• Modeling and simulation of radar systems and sub-systems and the signal processing chain
• Participate in field tests and data collection activities
• Document and present technical findings and progress to the team and stakeholders
• Work full-time onsite at our office in Hawthorne, CA
