Job summary

Baxter is seeking a Senior Manager, R&D Mechanical Engineering to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for infusion system design from concept through production ramp. You will strengthen design quality, risk management, and decision speed while collaborating across Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing and external partners.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, talent development, and a strong focus on scalable manufacturing, materials, sensors, and AI-enabled engineering processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a regulated industry.
• 3-5+ years leading engineers and cross-functional technical teams.
• Experience with Design Controls, DFMEA, risk management, design verification.

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, coach, and develop a mechanical engineering team; create an engaged, accountable culture.
• Own mechanical engineering execution for complex electromechanical infusion systems from concept through verification, design transfer, commercialization, production ramp, and sustaining support.
• Raise the standard for design quality through CAD and drawing practices, tolerance analysis, technical reviews, configuration management, documentation, and DFM.
• Strengthen Design Controls, DFMEA, Critical Quality Attributes, and product risk management.
• Drive manufacturing readiness with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, suppliers, and contract manufacturers; ensure designs, tooling, test methods, and production controls are complete.
• Provide decisive technical leadership in materials, fluid interfaces, sensing integration, injection molding, root cause analysis, reliability, and high-volume manufacturing.
• Align Systems, Electrical, Reliability, Quality, Regulatory, Program Management with partners around priorities and delivery commitments.
• Shape capabilities in modeling, reliability, rapid prototyping, lab capabilities, and modern product development methods.
• Integrate AI into engineering workflows to improve performance, with quality, security, privacy, and regulatory oversight.
