Job summary

Cook Group in Bloomington, IN is seeking a Senior Research and Development Engineer to lead mechanical and metallurgical engineering efforts, advancing pre-development research for the new iMRI Division within an interdisciplinary team.

You will guide small projects, influence design decisions, collaborate with physicians and product managers, and contribute to design history files while ensuring regulatory and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; advanced degrees may reduce experience requirements.
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems.
• Knowledge of AI and data concepts; ability to evaluate AI outputs and communicate insights clearly.
• Experience in medical device or regulated industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical development of small projects and ownership of portions of medium-to-large programs.
• Make key design decisions to meet customer needs and ensure design quality.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to identify focus areas and develop best practices.
• Develop procedures or white papers for functional groups; deploy knowledge and training.
• Work with physicians, product managers, and SMEs to develop innovative medical devices.
