Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LP – HPE Labs in Milpitas, CA, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to advance integrated HPC and quantum solutions. The role is hybrid, requiring 2 days per week in an HPE office.

The candidate will develop and extend quantum circuit compilation, execution, resource estimation, and simulation capabilities. Responsibilities include building software for quantum computing apps and HPC‑QC system management, creating adapters to connect tools using open standards,

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field.
• 6+ years of programming experience with C/C++, Rust, or Python.
• Experience contributing to large software projects and API design.
• Experience with quantum computing tools (Qiskit, CUDA‑Q, TensorFlow Quantum, PennyLane).
• Strong understanding of quantum computing and HPC architectures.

Responsibilities

• Develop software supporting quantum computing applications and HPC‑QC system management.
• Create adapters connecting quantum tools with other software using open standards.
• Develop functional and unit tests, and support CI and code reviews.
• Prototype and extend open source software to support research efforts.
• Create test beds, demonstrations, and documentation for software capabilities.
• Contribute to open standards and interoperability in quantum computing.
