Job summary

QuEra Computing in Boston is seeking a Senior Quantum Engineer to join the Quantum Computing Services team as the machine enters its lifecycle, focusing on system integration, subsystems, and service delivery. You will collaborate with software, product and applications teams to define the platform, drive performance and reliability, and build an ops team for a commercial quantum computing service.

Qualifications

• PhD in experimental AMO physics with 6+ years building or operating a neutral-atom or trapped-ion system.
• Strong communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams; ability to translate needs into system features.
• Interest in working with customers/end users to deliver market value across the product lifecycle.
• Software skills and understanding of software architectures; familiarity with modern AI workflows is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Integrate and test new hardware and software features and subsystems to drive performance and reliability.
• Take growing ownership of overall operations, optimizing uptime and running costs.
• Build and enable a team of operators to support a commercial quantum computing service.
• Support users and translate their needs into the machine's roadmap.
