Job summary

London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Index Research & Design team in New York. You will develop Python-based software, scalable data pipelines, and analytical libraries powering next‑generation index research and product innovation.

You will collaborate with quantitative researchers and engineers to transform research ideas into production-ready software on AWS, adopting modern engineering practices and AI-enabled development tools.

Qualifications

• Significant software development experience in quantitative finance or data-intensive environments.
• Expert Python programming skills with maintainable software.
• Experience processing large datasets using Polars, PyArrow, SQL.
• Experience deploying applications on AWS or similar cloud platforms.
• Strong understanding of APIs, data engineering, and modern software practices.
• Interest in AI/LLM tools to boost development productivity.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Python-based software, libraries, and components for index research.
• Build scalable data pipelines and analytical frameworks for large financial datasets.
• Develop high-performance data processing solutions with modern Python tech.
• Collaborate with researchers to turn prototypes into production software.
• Implement research capabilities on AWS and integrate solutions into platforms.
• Design APIs and shared services for cross-team collaboration.
• Explore AI-assisted tooling to improve development and knowledge management.
• Champion CI/CD, automated testing, and reproducible development.
