Job summary

LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group)–Index Research & Design in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to advance the next generation of index research platforms. You will design Python-based software, data pipelines, and analytical libraries to support methodology development and product innovation.

Collaborate with quantitative researchers and engineering teams to productionize prototypes, leverage AWS, and adopt AI-enabled development tools while championing modern software

Qualifications

• Significant experience in software for quantitative finance or data-intensive environments.
• Expert Python programming skills for high-quality, maintainable software.
• Strong experience processing large datasets with Polars, PyArrow and SQL.
• Experience building applications on AWS or other major clouds.
• Understanding of software architecture, APIs, data engineering, and modern practices.
• Experience designing scalable analytical tools or research platforms.
• Interest in applying AI/LLM tech to research workflows.
• Good understanding of financial markets or index methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Python-based software, libraries, and reusable components for index research and product innovation.
• Build scalable data pipelines and analytical frameworks for large financial datasets.
• Develop high-performance data processing using Polars, PyArrow, and SQL.
• Collaborate with researchers to turn prototypes into production-ready software.
• Implement research capabilities on AWS and integrate solutions into enterprise platforms.
• Design APIs and services to improve collaboration across teams.
• Explore AI-assisted development tools and LLMs to boost productivity and documentation.
