LSEG (FTSE Russell) seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the Index Research & Design team to build scalable research platforms and production-ready software that power next-gen index research and product innovation.

Work alongside quantitative researchers and engineers to transform ideas into robust software, leveraging modern Python tools (Polars, PyArrow, SQL) and cloud services (AWS). Emphasis on AI-enabled development and reproducible practices across the stack.

Qualifications

• Significant experience developing software in quantitative finance, data-intensive environments.
• Expert Python programming for high-quality, maintainable software.
• Strong experience processing large datasets with Polars, PyArrow, and SQL.
• Experience building apps/analytical services on AWS or other major clouds.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, APIs, data engineering, and modern practices.
• Experience designing scalable analytical tools or research platforms.
• Interest in applying AI and LLMs to improve software development and research workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Python-based software, libraries, and reusable components for index research and product innovation.
• Build scalable data pipelines and analytical frameworks for large financial datasets.
• Develop high-performance data processing solutions using Polars, PyArrow, and SQL.
• Collaborate with researchers to turn prototypes into production-ready software.
• Implement APIs and shared services to enable cross-team collaboration.
• Adopt AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity and knowledge management.
• Champion automated testing, code reviews, and CI/CD for reproducible development.
• Contribute to the team's technical roadmap to improve scalability and efficiency.
