Job summary

Magna Powertrain in Indiana seeks a senior quality professional to lead the quality department, drive process capability, and ensure conformance to customer requirements across mass production automotive assemblies.

You will develop strategic quality plans, supervise the Quality Team, and collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering to deliver robust, compliant products. Travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in technical or engineering field with 6+ years in quality or equivalent
• Education in Statistical Process Control (SPC)
• Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
• Automotive mass production experience preferred
• Understand PFMEA, FMEA, blueprint reading, GD&T, DOE, and Control Plans
• Strong communication across departments
• Leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of APQP/PPAP processes
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Familiar with Ford 8D, GM 5-Phase methods
• Solid knowledge of TS16949
• Good computer skills
• Statistical abilities and gage R&R/capability studies

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic short and long-term quality business plans
• Maintain strong customer relations
• Champion the quality system and conformance to requirements
• Ensure products meet customer and company specs
• Evaluate process capability with Manufacturing and Engineering
• Ensure capable processes for manufacturing
• Match operating practices with production and customer needs
• Participate in DFME, FMEA, PFME as required
• Create and manage Quality department annual budget
• Supervise Quality Team, schedule, training, performance reviews
• Assist in establishing process capabilities
• Conduct validation testing
• Submit ISIR samples for customer approval
• Train and develop Quality staff
• Assist in vendor/supplier audits
• Act as liaison with customers
• Prepare and conduct customer surveys
• Coordinate and maintain QI status
• Uphold health and safety policies
• Approve/reject internal production to meet specs
• Approve/reject supplier components to meet specs
• Handle customer rejects disposition
• Manage supplier qualification and sampling
• Support recruiting and supplier development
• Maintain CI focus and departmental goals
• Resolve spec-meeting problems in manufacturing
• Resolve issues via corrective actions
• Maintain departmental metrics
• Travel required
• Ensure OSHA compliance and safety rules

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Technical or Engineering field, plus six year’s experience in quality, or equivalent
