Job summary

RTX seeks a Senior Quality Inspector for the Mission Assurance Team in Goleta, CA to perform hands-on inspections of electro‑mechanical assemblies, interpret MIL/IPC/ANSI specs and drawings, and document non-conformances with traceable records.

This onsite role requires U.S. citizenship and a Secret clearance. Candidates with ISO/AS9100 experience and ERP familiarity are valued. Salary ranges from USD 66,000 to 125,400 with strong benefits.

Qualifications

  • AA/AS degree or 2-year post-high school training, or equivalent 10 years experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience (or 3 years with a high school alternative).
  • Minimum 3 years of hardware handling and inspection.

Senior Quality Inspector – Mission Assurance Team (Goleta, CA)

This onsite role requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret security clearance. The position is located in Goleta, California (6380 Hollister Ave, BLDG H01).

Responsibilities
  • Perform hands‑on inspections of electro‑mechanical assemblies using established quality inspection methodologies and tools.
  • Interpret MIL, IPC, and ANSI specifications and technical drawings to identify and assess non‑conformances.
  • Document, log, and track inspection records ensuring traceability and compliance with company standards.
  • Conduct physical inspections of hardware and review deliverable documentation in alignment with technical data packages, processes, and contractual requirements.
  • Verify tasks and inspections are completed following company standards, industry regulations, and government agency requirements.
  • Support return‑to‑vendor activities, ensuring defective materials are appropriately addressed.

Required Qualifications
  • AA/AS degree or equivalent 2‑year post‑high school training; alternatively, high school graduate with 10 years of experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience (or 3 years when using a high school graduate alternative).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in hardware handling and inspection.
  • Proficiency with quality control and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related equipment.
  • Experience with aerospace, defense, or manufacturing standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, MIL‑STD, IPC, J‑STD).
  • Experience documenting and maintaining accurate inspection records for traceability.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and contractual flow‑down requirements.
  • Experience performing quality inspections in accordance with GD&T drawings, quality notes, inspection plans, and contractual requirements using appropriate tools.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Active and transferable Secret security clearance required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in manufacturing and production of electronic and mechanical assemblies (including electro‑mechanical components).
  • Hands‑on experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience with PRISM (SAP) or other ERP software systems.
  • Familiarity with industry technical quality standards such as MIL‑STD‑105, J‑STD‑001, and IPC‑A‑610.
  • Certifications in J‑STD‑001 or IPC‑A‑610 preferred.
  • Background in electro‑mechanical manufacturing and quality assurance practices.
  • Experience with vendor, receiving, first‑article, and in‑process inspections.
  • Certification in quality inspection or related fields (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector or NDT Level certifications).
Security Clearance

Salary

USD $66,000 – $125,400 (commensurate with experience).
