Job summary

Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS) has an experienced Quality Engineer role in Goleta, CA. This onsite position focuses on implementing and developing quality engineering and customer flow-down requirements within the Focal Planes Operations group.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in STEM with at least 2 years in Quality or related fields, RCCA, 8D, Six Sigma and Lean practices. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance are required.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in STEM and two years of engineering experience.
  • Two years’ experience in Quality, Engineering or Operations with related processes.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100 quality systems.
  • Familiarity with RCCA, 8D, root cause analysis and corrective action.

Responsibilities

  • Create or tailor quality planning to meet customer and internal requirements.
  • Participate as a member of a program IPT for quality engineering.
  • Identify and manage risks throughout program phases.
  • Support design-to-production transition with quality focus.
  • Lead problem resolution using Eight Disciplines, Six Sigma, Lean tools.

Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS) has been a technology development and manufacturing leader of infrared systems for over 70 years, and it continues to be one of the industry stakeholders in the production of high-tech vision products for a variety of space, tactical and commercial applications. RVS is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer (QE) to implement and develop quality engineering and customer quality flow-down requirements throughout proposal and program life cycle with our Focal Planes Operations group.


This position is an onsite role located in Goleta, CA.


What You Will Do


  • Create or tailor existing quality planning to administer customer and internal quality requirements

  • Implement quality engineering responsibilities as a member of a program Integrated Product Team (IPT)

  • Ensure programmatic and technical risks are identified, contained, and managed throughout each phase of the program implementation

  • Ensure quality engineering engagement in program development, design and build, including the transition of design to production

  • Aid multi-functional teams in problem resolution and continuous improvement activities with an emphasis on 8D, Six Sigma, Lean Practices and other critical thinking improvement methods and resources

  • Complete Internal First Article Inspections (FAIs)

  • Provide program performance data utilizing predictive and proactive measures and metrics

  • Maintain positive relationships with program administration, cross-functional program stakeholders, suppliers, customers, and government representatives.


Qualifications You Must Have


  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and Two (2) years of engineering experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Quality, Engineering or Operations with working knowledge of business strategic planning and proposal, engineering development, material and service acquisition, production, test, product acceptance and post-delivery assistance.

  • Experience in Quality Management Systems IS0 9001, AS9100.

  • Working experience of Quality Requirements and Standards.

  • Working experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) methodology, systems, and resources.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Qualifications We Prefer


  • Working experience in predictive and proactive measures and metrics assessments and actions to improve performance or mitigate problems.

  • Infrared industry, semiconductor processing or DoD industry experience.

  • Past or present member of Material and Failure non-conformance review boards (MRB/FRB).

  • Experience in developing or a member of risk & opportunity management, assessment, mitigation, and capture.

  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer or Six Sigma Certification.

  • Experience with statistical and metrics software (e.g., Tableau, Minitab).

  • Experience with factory systems and software (e.g., SAP, Windchill).

  • Knowledge and experience with Focal Plane manufacturing processes and cleanrooms.

  • Ability to work with program team members to develop practical solutions to complex problems.

  • Thorough written and verbal presentation skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 75,800 USD - 144,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
