Job summary

Raytheon in Goleta, California is seeking a Senior Quality Inspector to join our Mission Assurance Team. This onsite role focuses on hands-on inspections of electro‑mechanical assemblies, ensuring product compliance and traceable documentation to meet contract requirements. You will interpret MIL/IPC/ANSI specs and GD&T drawings, log inspection records, support return-to-vendor actions, and work with ERP systems.

A U.S. security clearance is required, and U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

Qualifications

  • AA/AS degree or 2-year postsecondary training with 8 years relevant experience, or high school diploma with 10 years experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of hardware handling and inspection experience.
  • Experience with calipers, micrometers, gauges and related inspection tools.
  • Experience with aerospace/defense standards (AS9100, ISO 9001, MIL-STD, IPC, J-STD).
  • Ability to document inspection records with traceability.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and contractual requirements.
  • GD&T knowledge and inspection per plans using appropriate instruments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data recording.
  • Active and transferable final U.S. government Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on inspections of electro-mechanical assemblies using established quality inspection methodologies and tools.
  • Interpret MIL, IPC, and ANSI specifications, as well as technical drawings, to accurately identify and assess non-conformances.
  • Document, log, and track inspection records while ensuring traceability and compliance with company standards.
  • Conduct physical inspections of hardware and review deliverable documentation in alignment with technical data packages, processes, and contractual requirements.
  • Verify tasks and inspections are completed following company standards, industry regulations, and government agency requirements.
  • Support return-to-vendor activities, ensuring defective materials are appropriately addressed.
  • Use analytical and problem-solving skills to prioritize and execute inspection tasks effectively.

We are currently seeking a Senior Quality Inspector to join our Mission Assurance Team at our dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing facility in Goleta, California. In this role, you will play an essential part in ensuring product and process quality standards. You will focus on product compliance, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement to meet the high standards of excellence our customers expect. As a Receiving Quality Inspector, you will work hands‑on to ensure deliverable product acceptance and verify the quality of hardware and the associated documentation to meet set standards.
This is an onsite role in Goleta, CA.

What You Will Do
  • Perform hands‑on inspections of electro‑mechanical assemblies using established quality inspection methodologies and tools.
  • Interpret MIL, IPC, and ANSI specifications, as well as technical drawings, to accurately identify and assess non‑conformances.
  • Document, log, and track inspection records while ensuring traceability and compliance with company standards.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience. (In lieu of a degree, candidates must be a high school graduate and have ten (10) years of experience)
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in hardware handling and inspection.
  • Experienced using quality control and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related equipment.
  • Experience working with aerospace, defense, or manufacturing standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, MIL-STD, IPC, J-STD).
  • Experience documenting and maintaining accurate inspection records for traceability.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and contractual flow‑down requirements.
  • Experience performing quality inspections in accordance with GD&T drawings, quality notes, inspection plans, and contractual requirements using appropriate tools (e.g., microscopes, calipers, gauges, micrometers).
  • Experience using computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Qualifications We Value
  • Prior experience in the manufacturing and production of electronic and mechanical assemblies (including electro‑mechanical components).
  • Hands‑on experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience using PRISM (SAP) or other ERP software systems.
  • Working experience applying industry technical quality standards, such as MIL-STD-105, J-STD-001, and IPC-A-610. Certifications in J-STD-001 or IPC-A-610 are preferred.
  • Background in electro‑mechanical manufacturing and quality assurance practices.
  • Experience performing various types of quality inspections, including vendor, receiving, first article, and in‑process inspections.
  • Certification in quality inspection or related fields (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector or NDT Level certifications).

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 125,400 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
