Job summary

UCSF Health seeks a Sr. Quality Improvement Specialist to oversee strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of affiliate quality programs, aligning with regulatory and alternative payment objectives and reporting to the Chief Quality Officer.

The role partners with physicians, IT, Network Strategy, and quality leaders to drive improvements, analyze performance data, and develop corrective actions, ensuring high-quality patient care across UCSF Health and its Affiliate Network.

Qualifications

• Five years of healthcare quality program management and related work.
• In-depth knowledge of QI standards, chart review, abstraction, and regulatory requirements.
• In-depth knowledge of QI models, tools, data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting.
• Advanced organizational and project management skills with team leadership capacity.
• Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving for complex information.
• Advanced interpersonal skills for collaboration with clinical/technical staff and regulators.
• Ability to convey complex clinical information in reports and presentations.
• Experience with administrative software and quality data management tools.
• Ability to influence staff, management, and clinicians across departments.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual goal setting and implementation with data teams and clinical domains.
• Guide development of clinical protocols and patient safety activities across the affiliate network.
• Serve as SME on quality metrics and reporting, partnering with training and resources teams.
• Establish collaborative relationships with partners; on-site quarterly joint visits.
• Coordinate and support the standard operating model for affiliate quality support.
• Facilitate stakeholder workgroups aligned with strategic priorities and leadership directions.
• Support value-based care optimization and quality performance across UCSF Health network.
• Analyze performance data and develop corrective action plans; prepare summaries for decisions.
