Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead investigations and resolutions of quality-related supplier, production, and design problems.

You will advocate for customers when quality issues arise and may be assigned to specific product lines for focused support. You will respond to daily quality issues on production lines, resolve problems, perform process capability analyses, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field (ME, EE, IE) preferred.
At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; electromechanical devices a plus.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to all levels of the organization.
Proficiency in reading technical documents like blueprints and material specs.
Knowledge of ISO standards.
Broad knowledge of materials and their evaluation.
Lean and Six Sigma tools: DMAIC, PPAP, DFMEA, DOE, SPC, GR&R, CPk, APQP, etc.
Competency with measurement instruments (CMM, calipers, force gauge, etc.)
Willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, and reduce costs.

Responsibilities

Respond to day-to-day design, production, and customer quality issues on production lines.
Resolve production problems related to process, part, and design issues.
Determine quality improvement parameters for manufacturing processes.
Maintain statistical process controls and various charts for distributions and multi-stream processes.
Analyze data with hypothesis tests, normal distribution, and process capability analyses.
Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data with recommendations.
Interface with Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Product and Sustaining Engineering, and Production Inventory Control.
Monitor self-release of products, first article, and PPAP preparation.
Review manufacturing instructions for completeness and accuracy; audit processes.
Responsible for internal and external supplier audits and corrective action systems.
Assist in ensuring QA specifications are met across functions and advocate for customer satisfaction.
Maintain records of investigation and resolution per procedures.
Assist with inspection procedures and methods; use MRP/ERP for data collection.
Support maintenance of the quality system as directed by Quality Manager.
Review, support, and complete RMAs including root cause analysis and corrective action.
