Spectrolab, Inc., a wholly‑owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, seeks a Senior Quality Engineer to join our Quality organization at the Sylmar, California facility. The role focuses on leading audits, quality engineering for illumination products, and ensuring contract quality requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities include coordinating internal and external audits, interpreting drawings and documents, implementing corrective actions, and developing quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • 5+ years of experience with quality inspection and/or auditing.
  • 5+ years of experience with root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) methods.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Non-conformance (NCR) processes.

  • Provides a strong Quality Engineering contribution to project design teams.
  • Reads and interprets drawings and technical documents, develops and assesses corrective and preventive actions and ensures contract quality requirements are flowed down and adhered to.
  • Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Performs benchmarking and other forms of advanced analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
  • Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs. Develops and selects methods for analysis, testing and audit to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.

Spectrolab, Inc., is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our Quality organization. This position is located at our manufacturing facility in Sylmar, California.

Spectrolab, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, is the world’s leading merchant supplier of high-efficiency, multi-junction solar cells and panels for spacecraft power systems with proven reliability drawn from six decades of space heritage. Spectrolab’s state-of-the-art space solar cells and panels power satellites in Earth’s orbit, as well as, the International Space Station. Since its founding in 1956, Spectrolab has led the way in the development of high-efficiency solar cells for space missions. Spectrolab airborne searchlights have been the industry standard since 1968.

Position Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • 5+ years of experience with quality inspection and/or auditing
  • 5+ years of experience with root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) methods
  • 5+ years of experience working with Non-conformance (NCR) processes
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with internal and external customers, regulators and 3rd party auditors.
  • Experience in FAA part 145 Repair Station requirements.
  • Certified AS9100 Lead Auditor
Travel

Position may require travel up to 5% of the time.

$130,900 - $177,100
