Job summary

Yahoo Sports Quality Engineering leads the design of automated testing infrastructure across Web, mobile, and cloud services. The team develops AI-driven test pipelines, observability tooling, and robust diagnostics to ensure reliability under high concurrency.

The role focuses on architectural leadership, scalable frameworks, and collaboration with engineers, product managers, and architects to embed testability and risk mitigation throughout the SDLC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.
• 7+ years of professional Quality Engineering or SDET experience with leadership.
• Hands-on proficiency with AI-assisted development and testing tools (GitHub Copilot, etc.).
• Deep expertise building test automation frameworks (Playwright, Appium, Cypress, Selenium).
• Strong testing across mobile, web, REST/GraphQL APIs, and microservices.
• Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript, Java, or scripting; CI/CD integration.

Responsibilities

• Quality Framework Architecture: build scalable test automation frameworks and utilities.
• AI-Augmented Quality Engineering: implement AI-driven test pipelines and data generation.
• AI-Powered Diagnostics & RCA: create AI-driven diagnostic engines for failures and flaky tests.
• CI/CD Quality Gates: embed testing across CI/CD pipelines with deterministic gates.
• Cross-Squad Quality Leadership: collaborate on design reviews to improve testability.
• Defect Triage & Observability Automation: AI-assisted triage for release risk.
• Engineering Standards & Mentorship: set QE standards and mentor senior QEs.
