Job summary

ORION is seeking an experienced QA/QC Construction Manager to oversee and enforce the project quality control program while managing field construction activities to ensure work aligns with specifications, standards, and codes.

The role requires leadership, coordination with project teams, subcontractors, and clients, and the ability to travel between Houston region job sites. Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes and concrete construction is essential.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years of experience in concrete construction with progressive leadership responsibility, including QA/QC oversight.
• Strong knowledge of concrete construction practices, including structural and commercial work.
• Comprehensive understanding of QA/QC programs, inspection processes, and industry standards (ACI, ASTM, ICC, etc.).
• ACE/NAVFAC certification and project experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily field operations with a focus on quality control to ensure compliance with project specs, drawings, and codes.
• Implements and enforces the QA/QC Plan; ensures inspection and testing requirements are executed.
• Supervises QA/QC Inspectors and field personnel to ensure consistent application of quality standards.
• Coordinates with project management, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet quality requirements.
• Reviews and verifies inspection reports, test results, and quality documentation for accuracy.
• Monitors concrete construction activities including formwork, reinforcing steel, embeds, placement, finishing, and curing.
• Coordinates field testing activities (slump, air content, temperature, strength, density).
• Identifies and manages deficiencies and non-conformance with timely corrective actions.
• Leads QA/QC meetings, updates deficiency logs and punch lists, and reports on quality performance.
• Assists pre-construction meetings and collaborates with clients on quality expectations.
