Senior QA Engineer — AI-Driven Test Automation

Job summary

Tempus AI, a cutting-edge clinical laboratory with automation, is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to join one or more Agile Scrum teams. This hands-on role designs and maintains UI, API, and data-validation test frameworks in Java and Python, integrates with CI/CD, and runs unattended against every build.

You’ll work on HIPAA/SOX compliance, triage failures, maintain regression suites, and mentor junior QA engineers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software QA including 5+ years in test automation.
• Strong programming in Java and/or Python for automation.
• Hands-on UI automation using Playwright or Selenium.
• API testing with REST Assured, Postman or similar.
• Experience running tests in CI/CD with GitHub Actions/Jenkins/GitLab CI.
• Solid SQL (MySQL) and careful handling of regulated test data.
• Experience with performance/load testing (JMeter, k6, Gatling).
• Knowledge of HIPAA, HL7 and FHIR.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and represent quality from the start of a story.
• Build and maintain automated tests for web UI, REST APIs and databases.
• Own regression suites and keep them running in CI/CD after deployments.
• Test HIPAA and SOX compliance, including PHI handling and access logging.
• Analyze test results and triage failures with reproducible bug reports.
• Validate night-time deployments and health in environments.
• Participate in risk assessments and release readiness reviews with evidence-based go/no-go decisions.
• Maintain traceability from requirements to results for regulated components.
• Apply AI-assisted tooling to accelerate test authoring and coverage while ensuring correctness.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and assist internal users.
