Job summary

Sotalent is seeking a seasoned Quality Engineering Lead for our Colorado facility. You will drive root cause investigations and manage nonconformances from detection through resolution, partnering with engineering to embed corrective actions into manufacturing and design workflows.

The role requires 7+ years in defense or aerospace quality engineering, a strong Six Sigma and SPC background, GD&T interpretation skills, and the ability to work independently while leading cross-functional problem

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of quality engineering experience in defense or aerospace industries.
• Strong root cause analysis and corrective action management skills.
• Solid understanding of Six Sigma, SPC, and process capability studies.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and technical document interpretation.
• Experience with quality management software and FRACAS applications.
• Strong data analysis and technical reporting abilities.
• Ability to work independently while leading collaborative problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical investigations using methods like 5 Whys, Fishbone, and FMEA.
• Manage the full lifecycle of nonconformances, including SCARs and CAPAs.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues on time.
• Partner with manufacturing to improve inspection plans and process controls.
• Oversee site compliance with AS9100 standards.
• Participate in design reviews to advise on manufacturability and reliability.
• Monitor supplier quality and track performance metrics.
• Verify testing procedures for electro‑optical and laser systems.
