Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Quality Engineering Automation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain scalable web automation frameworks. You will collaborate with developers, analysts, product owners, and DevOps to improve quality and accelerate delivery.

The role emphasizes hands-on Java and automation across web apps, with CI/CD integration via Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps, and a focus on reusable components and strong testing practices. Remote in the United States.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience in web application test automation using Playwright and/or Selenium.
• Hands-on Java programming experience for developing and maintaining automation frameworks and test scripts.
• Experience with Cucumber and behavior-driven development practices.
• Strong experience in functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Ability to design, execute, and maintain test cases based on business and technical requirements.
• Experience analyzing automated test results, investigating failures, documenting defects, and supporting defect resolution.
• Experience building reusable automation components and maintaining scalable test automation frameworks.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders in an Agile delivery environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain reusable web automation frameworks using Playwright and/or Selenium with Java.
• Implement functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing solutions across multiple applications and platforms.
• Integrate automated test suites with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
• Develop and execute test cases, analyze test results, document defects, and collaborate with development teams to support timely resolution.
• Establish test-data strategies, automation standards, reusable components, and quality engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with business analysts, developers, product owners, and DevOps teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Participate in requirements reviews, test planning, risk assessments, and release-readiness activities.
• Monitor automation coverage, testing efficiency, defect trends, and quality metrics while driving continuous improvement.
