Job summary

PandaDoc is seeking a Senior Python Engineer to join the Content engineering team. You will own the content model, editor backend, and the real-time collaboration infrastructure, ensuring consistent state across services in a high-volume environment.

You will design backend systems for real-time editing, build event-driven pipelines, and contribute to reliability and observability of a large fleet of Python microservices. AI-powered capabilities are a growth focus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Python development in production environments.
• Strong experience with relational databases (SQL) and migrations.
• Experience with message queues and event-driven architectures (Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ or similar).
• Deep understanding of AsyncIO and concurrent systems.
• Experience building and operating microservice architectures at scale.
• Ability to reason about distributed systems reliability and data consistency.
• Nice to have: AI agents or LLM-powered workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve the backend systems powering real-time collaborative document editing.
• Own content model and data persistence layer: schema design, migrations, compatibility.
• Build and maintain event-driven pipelines (Kafka, NATS) processing frontend interactions.
• Contribute to reliability, observability, and operational excellence of Python microservices.
• Ship features end-to-end from backend to production monitoring.
• Contribute to AI-powered capabilities and agentic workflows.
