Job summary

JSM Consulting Inc. seeks an experienced backend/frontend engineer to join the Revenue Fare Management Systems team.

The role focuses on back office web application development supporting legacy revenue apps and the New Fare Payment System project, with efforts to merge LIRR and MNR revenue platforms. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop high-quality code, and build APIs and web frontends.

Qualifications

• Must have experience building web-based applications and APIs.
• Strong understanding of AJAX, HTML, JavaScript and CSS.
• Proficient in Python web development with Django and FastAPI.
• Experience as AWS Cloud Developer and with AWS API Gateway.
• Familiar with Docker containerization and Kubernetes (EKS).
• Knowledge of SQL and Oracle PL/SQL, plus scripting on Windows/Linux.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement custom modules and APIs in Python.
• Build real-time transaction systems for ticket validation.
• Design and implement deployment tooling and documentation.
• Create web frontends for internal and external applications.
• Collaborate in daily stand-ups and cross-functional planning.
• Provide code reviews, estimates, and feature prioritization recommendations.
• Assist in release planning and deployment activities.
• Create user-friendly interfaces and ensure cross-browser compatibility.
• Test accessibility and usability per client regions and standards.
• Conduct user testing and review designs against usability heuristics.
