Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. seeks a Lead Software Engineer to join the AIML Data Platforms and Machine Learning Center of Excellence team. You will design and deliver trusted, scalable Python services and cloud-native solutions in AWS, mentoring engineers while pushing secure, observable, automated development practices.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement high-performance architectures and ensure production readiness with robust testing and deployment automation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with formal training or certification.
• Advanced Python programming, object-oriented design, and modular architectures.
• Experience building and operating large-scale cloud-native services in AWS.
• Hands-on AWS experience: EKS, ECS, MSK, SQS, and S3.
• Infrastructure as Code expertise with Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Experience with production distributed systems and observability platforms.
• Strong API design, microservices, and scalable patterns.
• CI/CD, automated testing, deployment automation, and secure practices.
• Familiarity with approved AI-assisted software development tools.
• Knowledge of responsible AI usage, security, resiliency, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain production-grade Python services and APIs.
• Architect and implement high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems in AWS.
• Build and manage cloud-native apps using EKS, ECS, MSK, SQS, and S3.
• Develop reusable service frameworks, libraries, and modular components.
• Design IaC solutions with Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Create observability solutions using Datadog, Dynatrace, and Splunk.
• Deploy and support apps in production, meeting SLAs and SLOs.
• Adopt secure-by-design practices, testing, and deployment strategies.
• Review code, provide architectural guidance, and mentor engineers.
• Collaborate with product managers and platform teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve quality and delivery.
• Leverage SDLC tools to maximize automation value.
