Job summary

Northbeam, a remote-friendly company with offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles, seeks a senior-level software engineer focused on backend systems. You will spend ~70% on backend/distributed work and 20–30% on frontend, owning features across the stack when needed.

You’ll help scale our incrementality product, build near real-time data infrastructure, and potentially apply AI to marketing workflows while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing and building distributed backend systems, microservices, APIs and/or data processing systems written in Python.
• Experience designing system architecture.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data scientists while independently delivering.
• Startup experience or breadth across backend/frontend/pipelines/infrastructure.
• Ability to turn ambiguous product needs into sound technical architecture and production-ready solutions.
• Navigate complex datasets and dependencies to troubleshoot issues in ambiguous tech contexts.
• Frontend experience with React and TypeScript; deep frontend specialization not required.
• Willingness to work across backend, frontend, pipelines, and infrastructure when needed.

Responsibilities

• Scale the new incrementality product into a reliable, repeatable experimentation platform.
• Develop near-real-time ingestion and processing capabilities beyond batch workflows.
• Build AI-powered workflows to help marketers evaluate performance and act on insights.
• Improve connection-state systems and expand the partner ecosystem across data ingestion and exports.
• Work on other product areas such as RBAC and related backend concerns.
• Contribute to frontend work when needed to deliver complete experiences.
