Job summary

The State of Nevada, Department of Administration, Purchasing Division, seeks a General Counsel, Purchasing, to provide legal guidance to the Administrator and procurement staff in Carson City. The role reviews solicitations for compliance with Nevada law, drafts contracts with the AG’s Office, and updates statutes and manuals.

Candidates must be licensed Nevada attorneys, with experience in contracting or procurement law, and able to travel up to 10% while leading by example in a collaborative,

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school and admission to the Nevada Bar.
• Experience in contracting and/or procurement law is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and lead by example within a team.
• Travel up to 10% of the time to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to the Administrator and procurement staff.
• Review solicitations for compliance with Nevada law and procurement policies.
• Collaborate with the Attorney General’s Office on contract drafting and negotiation.
• Draft and revise statutes, regulations, and procurement manuals.
• Answer questions from agencies about contracting and procurement processes.
• Manage vendor protests and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
• Coordinate deadlines and prioritize multiple assigned projects.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences as required.
