Job summary

Bernalillo County is seeking a Senior Project Engineer in Albuquerque to oversee multiple public works projects, ensuring schedule adherence, construction document accuracy, and contractor submittal compliance. Responsibilities span utilities, drainage, traffic engineering, and horizontal design management.

The role requires a Master’s in Civil Engineering and at least 9 years of related experience, with PE registration preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field as recognized by state board.
• Nine (9) years of related work experience in engineering or construction.

Responsibilities

• CONSTRUCTION – Assures compliance with project schedule and contractor's submittal of documents.
• UTILITIES – Reviews designs and contract documents; coordinates with water/sewer/drainage projects.
• PROJECT PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT – Supervises plans and specs for utilities, roadways, bridges, drainage, and related improvements.
• SPECIAL ASSESSMENT – Plans and monitors special assessment design activities and district proceedings.
• DEVELOPMENT REVIEW – Reviews replats and subdivision matters for conformance with ordinances.
• TRAFFIC ENGINEERING – Conducts lighting studies and traffic control plan reviews.
• DRAINAGE – Coordinates drainage plans and development reviews.
• HORIZONTAL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION – Oversees project development from start to finish.
