Job summary

Bernalillo County is seeking a GIS Manager to oversee the development, maintenance, and integration of complex geographic information systems across county operations. Six years of work experience in GIS or a research-oriented field.
Two years of supervisory experience.
Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered.
Six years of experience in GIS, project management, transportation, or operations.

Responsibilities

Supervise GIS staff; manage schedules, assign tasks, and support staff development.
Coordinate advanced GIS work to support departmental initiatives; deliver training on GIS tools and mapping processes.
Oversee development and maintenance of ArcGIS Online platform and related web mapping services.
Maintain an integrated urban land information system for planning, forecasting, asset management, and development tracking.
Design, develop, and manage complex GIS databases and tools to support capital improvement, public safety, and planning workflows.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define project scopes, translate business needs into technical specs, and estimate timelines and costs.
Assist with creating custom GIS applications, reports, and spatial models to support planning and operations.
Write technical documentation and provide user guides for GIS systems.
