Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission seeks an experienced attorney to join the Office of Administrative Law Judge as a Mediator. You will manage a portfolio of mediation cases, perform legal analysis, and support resolution efforts with the Mediation Coordinator.

Responsibilities include case review, research of laws and regulations, conducting mediation sessions, creating forms, and communicating with stakeholders to advance Commonwealth policy objectives.

Qualifications

• Two years of professional legal experience required.
• Graduation from an accredited school of law is required.
• Equivalents may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Case Review: Determine which cases qualify for mediation and initiate interim orders as needed.
• Legal Analysis: Evaluate legal principles and research laws, regulations, and policies tied to mediation and public utility matters.
• Mediation Work: Conduct mediation sessions and assess legal and non-legal viewpoints to support resolution.
• Program Support: Create forms and letters with the Mediation Coordinator and assist in training staff on mediation procedures.
• Policy Input: Recommend policy changes based on independent research and review training materials.
• Stakeholder Communication: Arrange conferences, interviews, and virtual meetings using Microsoft Teams.
