Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Safety and Health professional to advise management on S&H event prevention policies, disseminate information, and coordinate safety programs across areas of responsibility.

The role involves conducting S&H observations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting training and analysis while traveling as required and collaborating with the Safety and Health team to improve company-wide safety outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, health, industrial hygiene or related field; OR associate degree with 2+ years in electric utility field operations.
• High School diploma/GED with 4+ years in electric utility field operations.
• 4 years experience in S&H or electric utility operations beyond education.

Responsibilities

• Instruct, advise, and assist management and personnel to carry out S&H programs and policies.
• Prepare and deliver programs and materials for S&H meetings and conferences.
• Conduct observations of personnel, tools, equipment, and work practices to ensure safe procedures.
• Advise and assist in S&H event analysis and support the event analysis committee.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations.
• Review contractor safety & health adherence at locations.
• Assist Safety and Health Manager on company-wide assignments.
• Promote and enforce S&H event prevention and safety programs.
