Job summary

American Electric Power in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is seeking a Safety and Health professional to advise management on S&H event policies, disseminate safety information, and coordinate safety programs across the organization. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, health, industrial hygiene or related field.
• Associate degree with two years' S&H or electric utility experience.
• High School diploma/GED with four years in S&H or related electric utility operations experience.
• 2 years' experience in S&H or electric utility operations in addition to education.

Responsibilities

• Instruct, advise, and assist in carrying out safety and health programs, policies and procedures.
• Prepare and advise on materials for meetings in S&H event prevention.
• Observe and assess safety practices of personnel, tools, equipment and work.
• Advise on S&H event analysis and support event analysis committees.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, local regulations.
• Review contractor safety adherence in the location.
• Promote and enforce S&H event prevention and safety programs.
