Job summary

University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, seeks a Communications Specialist Supervisor to lead the University Police Department Communications Division. The role oversees CCTV, computer, telephone, and two-way radio operations, monitors alarms, access, and fire systems across the complex.

Responsibilities include supervising? staff, enforcing policies, and coordinating training while maintaining certifications.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience as a Public Safety Telecommunicator.
• Felony or violent misdemeanor convictions disqualify.
• Must be fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing).

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate activities of Communications Specialists in University Police operations.
• Implement shift-based goals, policies, and procedures.
• Provide ongoing education and training opportunities to shift staff.
• Review calls for service on assigned shifts and ensure compliance with directives.
• Discipline as required and maintain required certifications and access rights.
