Job summary

ZipStaff is hiring a senior Developer/Programmer Analyst 3 to lead automation, system integration and data modernization for a state public health agency in Austin, TX. This 4-month hybrid contract starts December 1, 2026, with 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday.

You will assess requirements for eICR ingestion, develop automated data pipelines, dashboards and integrations, and document technical specifications to advance interoperability in public health data.

Qualifications

• 8+ years developing, testing, maintaining and troubleshooting SAS, Python, R or similar programming scripts.
• 8+ years in system integration, dashboard creation and automation for interoperability workflows.
• 8+ years working with structured or semi-structured health, public health or other complex administrative data, with strong database and querying knowledge.
• 8+ years documenting system requirements and translating business needs into technical solutions.
• 8+ years testing and validating automated data-integration solutions, and documenting code and technical specifications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical staff.
• Ability to work on-site in Austin, TX on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment to define requirements for eICR ingestion and registry auto-population.
• Develop, test and maintain automated data pipelines and validation procedures using SAS, Python and R.
• Build interactive dashboards and system integrations that improve interoperability workflows.
• Test and validate automated data-integration solutions.
• Write reports that document system requirements and translate programmatic and business needs into technical solutions.
• Document code, technical specifications, workflows and procedures.
• Collaborate with epidemiological, program and IT teams to advance public health data interoperability.
