Job summary

Caltrain is seeking a Manager, Positive Train Control to lead the engineering and oversight of the PTC system for the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board. The role reports to the Director of Systems Engineering and ensures daily PTC operation and compliance with FRA requirements.

The position requires strong leadership, extensive PTC experience, and the ability to manage vendor relations, documentation, and system integration across multiple subsystems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/ Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• Five years of professional railroad PTC experience or related field.
• 2 years of supervising staff and/or consultants.

Responsibilities

• Oversee PTC system engineering, updates, and integration.
• Develop and maintain Caltrain technical specifications and standards.
• Represent Caltrain in system integration activities.
• Manage PTC vendor services and contract renewals.
• Supervise staff and ensure safety policies are followed.
