Job summary

Blue Shield of California is seeking a senior leader to direct government program provider negotiations for commercial, Medi-Cal, and Medicare lines. You will manage relationships with health systems and providers, setting strategy, language, and execution to build sustainable networks that meet regulatory and growth objectives.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant experience.
• Requires at least 10 years provider contracting/negotiation experience including complex negotiations.
• Requires 5 years working with Medi-Cal, Medicare and Commercial Lines of Business.
• Must live within 50 miles of Long Beach, San Diego, or Woodland Hills offices.
• Requires collaborative leadership and proactive management in execution of processes and projects.
• Experience working at a health plan (managed care, government payer, or academic).
• Exceptional written communication skills with ability to draft executive summaries detailing strategy and plans.

Responsibilities

• Own negotiations from strategy and financial evaluation through contract language, approval, execution, and post-contract resolution.
• Lead cross-functional efforts to advance affordability, network access, and product strategy while protecting the company’s interests.
• Develop and maintain provider networks that meet regulatory requirements and growth objectives.
• Act as a leader within a hybrid, office-based workplace model with regular in-person collaboration.
