Primary Objective

To manufacture low volume iterative sheet metal assemblies using various manufacturing processes while adhering to high safety and quality standards in a product development setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Cutting, forming, and welding of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum using CNC press brakes, CNC laser, and various welding technologies (Pulse/Short Arc).
2. Partnering with engineers to reduce costs, improve quality, and increase manufacturability.
3. Performing MIG/TIG welding applications.
4. Using various hand tools associated with manufacturing processes (grinders, sanders, cut-off tools).
5. Communicating challenges to the department supervisor and working collectively to problem-solve.
6. Leveraging part drawings and CAD models to process workflow.
7. Providing training and guidance to new hires and team members as needed.
8. Using part nesting software and performing cutting operations on CNC laser.
9. Setting up and operating 175 & 90-ton press brakes.
10. Utilizing oxy-acetylene and plasma cutting torches as needed.
11. Using spot welding machines to create weld schedules for hardware application to sheet metal parts.
12. Driving forklifts and PIT vehicles to transfer parts and raw materials.
13. Submitting requests for raw materials and consumables as needed.

Required Skills:

• Ability to problem-solve.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong print reading and inspection skills.
• Understanding of raw materials, both ferrous and non-ferrous.
• Ability to pass onsite weld test and produce high-quality weld assemblies without hard tooling.
• Ability to work calmly and effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
• Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize workflow, especially during new product phases.
• Attention to detail and above-average communication skills.
• Ability to routinely lift up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to operate forklifts and PIT vehicles.

Required Education and Experience:

• 5-7 years of experience in a prototyping or job shop environment.
• Completion of a technical welding program and/or equivalent work experience.

Compensation includes a competitive base salary ranging from $61,500 to $91,900 annually, plus benefits such as health insurance, 401(k), profit sharing, disability, life insurance, paid time off, and voluntary benefits.
