Job summary

Twist Bioscience seeks an R&D scientist/manager with deep cell biology and antibody expertise to build and lead our protein sciences capabilities. The role starts hands-on, while you define the technical roadmap, hire, and grow a dedicated team in California.

You will develop antibody production workflows, improve end-to-end processes, design experiments, and mentor researchers. The position offers a base salary with bonus and equity, determined by experience and location.

Qualifications

PhD in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or closely related field.
5+ years of experience in protein sciences.
5 years of management experience.
Hands-on experience expressing and purifying antibodies.
Experience with liquid handling and automation is a plus.
Familiarity with Python or similar programming languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

Develop small- and medium-scale antibody production workflows, including formats (single-chain, IgG, multi-specific).
Improve end-to-end antibody development workflow: construct design, cell line development, culture, purification, analytics.
Build and manage a team of scientists and RAs.
Independently design and execute experiments and analyze data.
Move projects forward efficiently and manage time/resources.
Document and communicate results clearly.
Stay up to date with new developments and technologies.
Be the subject matter expert across projects.
