Job summary

Twist Bioscience seeks an exceptional R&D scientist with deep cell biology and protein expression experience to lead protein sciences capabilities in California. You will start as an individual contributor, execute core workflows, and shape the technical roadmap while building a team and scale-up efforts.

You will design and optimize antibody workflows, advance production strategies, and mentor prior researchers as the team grows. Strong technical depth and results-driven execution are essential.

Qualifications

• PhD in Cell Biology or closely related field required.
• 8+ years of experience in protein sciences and antibody expression/purification.
• Hands-on lab expertise in antibody workflows and workflow optimization.
• Experience with automation and programming is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop antibody production workflows (single-chain, IgG, multispecific).
• Improve end-to-end antibody development: design, cell line development, culture, purification, analytics.
• Build and manage a team of scientists and research assistants.
• Independently design experiments and analyze data.
• Move projects forward efficiently, manage time and resources.
• Document and communicate results clearly.
• Stay up to date with new developments and technologies.
• Be the subject matter expert across projects.
