Job summary

Generate:Biomedicines is seeking an experienced Senior Scientist I to independently lead complex protein production and characterization efforts in support of drug discovery and platform initiatives. You will work across upstream construct strategies, mammalian and cell-free production, downstream purification, and analytical characterization to enable confident scientific decisions.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering, chemical engineering, protein sciences, or related field, with typically 4+ years of industry experience; or a BS/MS with 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience leading complex protein production, purification, and characterization strategies across discovery initiatives.
• Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners (CROs/CDMOs).
• Proven ability to translate data into actionable scientific decisions.

Responsibilities

• Define, plan, and execute protein production, purification, and characterization strategies.
• Lead design, optimization, scale-up, and troubleshooting of expression workflows (mammalian & cell-free).
• Drive purification workflow development from capture to polishing and optimize chromatography.
• Produce high-quality protein material across formats and scales with fit-for-purpose quality attributes.
• Apply analytical methods to assess purity, identity, concentration, and stability.
• Integrate data across expression, purification, and characterization to identify root causes and recommendations.
• Mentor colleagues and advance scalable, data-rich workflows with automation and AI/ML tools.
• Interact with CROs/CDMOs and external partners to ensure deliverables meet requirements.
