Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. in Pullman, WA, seeks a Senior Protection Engineer to bring deep power system expertise into the Synchrowave software development process.

You will work with developers, engineers, and UX designers to create new tools that automate fault analysis, locate faults, and prevent outages. This role emphasizes teaching customers, collaborating globally, and contributing to technical papers and presentations at conferences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in power system protection and fault analysis.
• Experience with utility/industrial power systems with emphasis on protection and fault analysis.
• Experience with Synchrowave software and SEL products.
• Strong communication, writing and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Lead the specification, design, implementation and testing of fault analysis tools for electric power systems.
• Analyze fault and power quality data from protective relays, DFRs, meters, and sensors.
• Teach customers how to implement, deploy and use fault analysis tools.
• Collaborate with engineers worldwide to share knowledge and gather feedback.
• Author white papers, application guides, industry journals, and present at conferences.
