Grand Traverse County in Michigan is seeking an Assistant Prosecuting Atty III to participate in prosecuting all phases of criminal and misdemeanor felony trials, motions, hearings, and appeals across District, Probate, and Circuit Courts. The role supports investigations, policy development, and case strategy, with on-call and travel as needed.

The position emphasizes leadership in complex cases, adherence to ethics, and collaboration with law enforcement and internal staff.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate Degree required.
• Member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan required.
• Valid driver's license and personal vehicle insurance required.

Responsibilities

• Prosecutes all phases of criminal and civil trials in District, Probate, or Circuit Court, including appeals.
• Provides legal advice and consultation to staff, law enforcement, and citizens.
• Reviews investigations and assists in policy development for the criminal justice system.
• Prepares for litigation, researches the law, writes briefs, and prepares witnesses.
• Presents and argues cases to juries, judges, and other fact finders.
