Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Elkton, Maryland is seeking an experienced Propulsion Engineer – Structural Analysis (Level 3/4) to support solid rocket motor development. The role demands B.S. or M.S.

in STEM and strong FEA skills, with clear communication and collaboration across teams. Responsibilities include analyses, model development, experiments planning, results interpretation, and technical reporting for internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM; 5+ years experience (or Master’s degree with 3+ years).
• Experience with FEA software (ABAQUS, NASTRAN, ANSYS, FEMAP or equivalent).
• Ability to present analytical results orally and in written form.
• Proficient Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and US citizenship for security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structural analyses to support solid rocket motor propulsion design.
• Develop mathematical models with proper boundary conditions and material properties.
• Assist design of experiments to generate data for analyses.
• Interpret results and recommend system improvements.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for customers.
• Support test data assessments and validation of analyses.
• Collaborate with IPT leads to ensure technical and cost execution.
• Build relationships with customer technical contacts.
