Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Elkton, Maryland seeks a Propulsion Engineer – Structural and Dynamics Analyst (Level 3/4) to support solid rocket motor development.

Responsibilities include acoustic/shock/vibration environment development, structural dynamic analysis, and test support across government and commercial programs. Strong modeling, programming, and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with required related experience or advanced degrees as specified.
• Significant experience in modeling with FEA software (ABAQUS, NASTRAN, ANSYS, FEMAP, Wave6 or equivalent).
• Programming skills in Matlab, Simulink or Python.
• Experience with shock and vibration testing and analysis.
• Ability to present analytical results clearly in writing and orally.

Responsibilities

• Develop acoustic, shock and vibration environments and loads for design validation.
• Perform structural dynamic analysis simulations to support design across product lines.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external customers.
• Provide system-level test support and assess test hardware and data.
• Collaborate with customers and teams to resolve structural issues.
