Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ seeks a Principal Engineer – Propulsion to advance propulsion systems for missiles and space vehicles. You will work across programs, review manufacturing processes, and lead subcontractor collaborations while presenting technical capabilities to management and government.

The role requires a STEM bachelor’s with 8 years of propulsion experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years, plus the ability to obtain a US security clearance. Onsite work and travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in STEM plus 8 years of relevant propulsion experience.
• Eight years in propulsion tech and solid/air-breathing propulsion.
• Experience with solid propulsion system development from concept to testing.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced propulsion technologies and principles to integrate propulsion subsystems for missiles and space vehicles.
• Collaborate across development and production programs and with subcontractors.
• Review manufacturing processes and resolve issues in propulsion systems.
• Present technical results to management and government stakeholders.
• Manage propulsion development projects and subcontracts; oversee supplier operations.
