Job summary

L3Harris Technologies seeks a Senior Specialist, Mechanical Engineer – Design in Huntsville, AL (on-site) or Sacramento, CA. The role focuses on design of solid propulsion components and systems, including hot gas thrusters, insulation, manifolds, ignition systems, pressure vessels and test hardware.

The candidate will lead 3D design, drawings, and trade studies, interfacing with manufacturing, quality, and customer support, within an IPT environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of mechanical design experience; or graduate degree with 4+ years; or 10+ years in lieu of a degree.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (CREO) and PLM (Windchill) preferred.
• Knowledge of solid propulsion systems design and manufacturing methods.

Responsibilities

• Develop design concepts, 3D models and drawings for parts.
• Lead component and system design for solid propulsion systems.
• Support IPT engagements and supplier interactions.
• Travel 25%.
• Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
