Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan seeks a senior Proposal Writer to own end-to-end RFP and RFI outcomes and to lead the proposal team toward accurate, compliant, and timely submissions. You will drive process governance and provide strategic direction for complex, jumbo, and high-profile opportunities.

You will collaborate with Sales, Legal, and Compliance, oversee templates and quality controls, and mentor writers to deliver best-in-class responses that meet corporate standards and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Public Relations, Creative Writing, Journalism, or related field.
• Minimum five years proposal writing experience required.
• Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Snagit, Proposal Tech, Adobe Pro, Responsive, and Visio.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience with AI and prompting.

Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end ownership of all project responses, ensuring proposals are accurate and submitted on time.
• Review and approve proposal content for quality, consistency, and template alignment.
• Govern proposal templates across responses with standardized processes and checkpoints.
• Identify and mitigate compliance, accuracy, and submission risks; escalate high-risk items.
• Manage workload and prioritize across the team to balance capacity and deadlines.
• Maintain visibility to pipeline volume and complexity for sustainable execution.
• Lead and develop a team of Proposal Writers with coaching and performance oversight.
• Address performance issues and support skill development aligned to business needs.
• Serve as SME on complex or high-profile projects where positioning matters.
• Partner with Sales, Legal, Compliance, and SMEs to resolve issues and align messaging.
