Job summary

Harvard University Central Administration is seeking a seasoned Proposal Development Leader to supervise a central-office team within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. You will oversee the full pre-award lifecycle from opportunity identification through Just In Time submissions, ensuring standards, timelines, and sponsor/ institutional compliance.

You'll engage across units to align strategies with research priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience.
• Advanced knowledge of sponsored research regulations.
• Supervisory experience.
• Strong understanding of proposal development processes and policies.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex timelines.
• Experience with Just In Time (JIT) submissions is a plus.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for a central-office proposal development team embedded within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
• Oversee full pre-award proposal development lifecycle from identification to submission (JIT).
• Serve as primary liaison to Divisionals, Departmental Leadership, PIs, and central units.
• Develop, implement, refine policies, templates, tools, and metrics for proposal development.
• Direct and coordinate management of JIT actions for time-sensitive proposals.
• Engage in proposal development and JIT work for a portfolio of departments.
