Job summary

Harvard University’s Office for Sponsored Programs seeks a senior leader to guide a central-office proposal development team within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. You will oversee the full pre-award lifecycle, ensuring high-quality submissions and compliance across departments.

The role requires strategic thinking, regulatory expertise, and strong collaboration with PIs, divisions, and central units. A hands-on leader will mentor staff and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience.
• Advanced knowledge of sponsored research regulations.
• Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for a central-office proposal development team embedded within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
• Oversee the full pre-award proposal development lifecycle from opportunity identification to final submission and JIT.
• Serve as central-office liaison to Divisionals, PIs, and central units to resolve policy and risk issues.
• Develop and refine proposal development policies, templates, tools, and metrics; analyze volume and turnaround times.
• Direct/manage JIT actions and time-sensitive sponsor requests for complex and high-risk proposals.
• Engage in proposal development and JIT work for a portfolio of departments.
